Root/unlock your device. Use a kernel/rom with a build in tun.ko module. Download the App VPNC Widget from the Android Market. Grant root access with superuser app. Configure the VPNC Widget app with the data

• IPSec gateway: vpn.fh-koeln.de
• IPSec ID: FHK-VPN
• IPSec secret: KoelnerDom
• Xauth username: YOURVPNNAME
• Xauth password: YOURVPNPASSWORD

The additional parameters are not used anymore here. Make sure your WIFI does not disconnect on display time-out. (VPN get killed everytime your display is off else)

Settings → Wireless → WIFI → [MENU BUTTON] → Extended→ Standby Guide → „NEVER“

Working Kernels (from memory for older Android versions):

• 2.2.1 - speedmod k13e 500hz
• 2.3.3 - speedmod k15h 300hz (untested; fugumod should work but do not)
• 2.3.4 - Semaphore v1.2.0 with Juwe Rom 5.0

While normal use allows a time about 2 days with one charge, there are troubles with (samsungs) gingerbread builds of 2.3.3 that are also used by community builds. In some cases the two processes „Android OS“ and „Android System“ goes crazy and never stop eating cpu time, keeping the phone awake. In such cases, 6 hours without data and wifi (and display of course)could drain about 50% of your battery
